In the wrong hands, the influence Coldplay wield can produce mawkish whine-bar whimsy thatΓÇÖs hard to stomach and even harder to dislodge. But get it right, as this Cornish four-piece emphatically do, and you produce an album stuffed with anthemic, singalong epics (such as Into the Fire and Thru the Glass). Tom WellhamΓÇÖs guitar is as indispensable to Thirteen Senses as Jonny BucklandΓÇÖs is to Coldplay, while Will SouthΓÇÖs David Gates-like croon carries all before it. A dozen tracks may be pushing it, but for starters, The Invitation is hard to resist.
